Commutatorless DC motor - has thyristor bridge supplying stator winding from DC source according to rotor position

The motor is for a fur-quadrant operation and a power greater than 0.5 kW. Stator windings are connected to a DC voltage source through a switch consisting of a bridge circuit with controllable SC gates, in accordance with the rotor position. A further sC gate is provided in each connection between the DC sources and the bridge. Null diodes are allocated to the SC gates in the bridge, and connected directly to the current source, by-passing the gates in the connections. Six thyristors are used in theswitch bridge circuit and two transistors in the connections to the bridge. They control the current by pulse-width modulation.
