Equipment for forming a sterile zone in a hospital, particularly above and around an operating table, uses a duct with a discharge grid with sloping sides around a central discharge region with rectangular openings. The sloping sides also incorporate sloping slats which guide the air flow outwards. This forms an auxiliary air curtain outside the main central flow. The central region is divided into two equal chambers by a division plate. Air distributor tubes through the grid have side opening discharging into these two chambers and end openings for discharging against the rear of the sloping slats.
