The servo drive for the instant picture camera incorporates an electronic or mechanical delay timer to start the processing after the camera has been changed from the exposure mode. This gives the user time to lower the camera and reduces the risk of vibration. The time delay can be long enough to enable the user to operate a hold switch to prevent processing until it is convenient. This provides protection for the film in e.g. rain.
