The flange has bolt holes for the detachable coupling of pipes. Two U-section metal washers (1, 2) are assembled together with their flanges towards each other (3). The washers can be of the same size, with the flanges butting together, or they can be of different sizes fitting one inside the other, the smaller one acting as a supporting surface for the bolts or nuts. The washers can be spot-welded together, holes being formed in them for drainage of condensate or rain water and the intervening space can be filled with foam material (6).
