Slop padding liquor or printing paste for dyeing or printing textile contg. cellulose fibres with water-soluble reactive dyestuffs (I) of the halo-diazine or triazine series contains a polyglycol ether (II) of the formula R-O-(CH2-CHR'-O)n-R (in which the R gps. independently are H, 1-5C alkyl or acetyl. R' is H or Me. n = 1-12, esp. 3-8) and has pH 7.5 -2.5 (6.0-3.5) (I) pref. contains SO3H gps. and fibre-reactive monoor di-fluoro(monochloro)-pyrimidyl or dichloro- or monofluoro-triazinyl gps(s). (II) has a water-solubility of min. 25 g/l and is used in a concn. of =10 (25-100) g/l. The compsn. is also specified for use with cellulose, polyester textiles, in which case it also contains dispersion dyestuffs. (II) acts as fixative and lacks the ecological drawbacks of nitrogenous fixatives and the difficulty of using carbonate esters.
