The increased pressure and temperature of a refrigerating agent provides discharge of vapour from absorption agent. The latter is then liquefied in a cooled condenser at discharge pressure, but lower temperature, dissipating heat in the process. The agent then passes via a regulator valve, reducing the pressure, to a vaporiser, where heat is absorbed. The vapour-free agent flows through a return pipe to an absorber, and there draws in a liquefies the vapour from the vaporiser. Condensation and solution heat released in the absorber is conducted away be a coolant. A pump returns the agent from absorber to discharge, increasing the pressure. The return pipe incorporates a jet pump, actuated by the vapour-free agent. The degree of refrigeration is controlled by regulation of the quantity of refrigerating and absorption agent circulated by the jet pump.
