Cyclone furnace for the intensive prepn. or sintering of dispersed mineral materials, has a separate cyclonic combustion chamber with a horizontal arrangement for the fuel inlets oin opposite walls of the chamber which are not of circular profile. The outlets from the combustion chamber feed into cyclonic reaction chamber which also have a feed system for the mineral feed. In their narrow outlet section they have a connection with a sepn. chamber. This chamber has a gas outlet and an outlet for the non gaseous prod. Used for treating particulate mineral streams and provides a system in which minerals can be sintered or roasted in a way not possible in conventional furnaces.
