Vehicles capable of travelling along tracks are fitted with cross-guiding roller with a vertical rolling surface, as well as with rubber tyred support wheels. The guiding rollers work in conjunction with track defining cross-guiding rails in the transport system esp. in inner city areas. A spur rack (8) or more than one, following the line of the track, is fitted to the track, and one or more brakable spur wheels (11), are fitted to the vehicle (1). The spur wheel may be structurally integrated with a cross-guiding roller (6) which can be lowered and braked, while the spur rack is in the area of the cross-guiding rail (4). This provides effective deceleration in the event of an emergency braking, even if the track is covered in ice.
