The root crop harvesting machine is especially for digging up potatoes and assembling them. There is an endless sieving conveyor belt which is driven around a front and a rear pulley. The conveying strand conveys the crop from the front to the back and a rotating pick-up shaft is supported in front of the front pulley. Above the front pulley (6) and the pick-up shaft (8) there is an intake or pick-up mechanism (9) with blade elements (9a, 9b, 9c) for conveying the root crops (10) onto the belt (5). Spedifically, the intake mechanism is a driven roller (9) with flanges or blades which extend radially and propel the potatoes onto a conveyor belt (5).
