A sterile fluid transfer device, such as for the nutrient solutions (agar-agar) for microbiological cultures, includes a ball valve with a hose tailpiece on one end of the ball for the attachment of a filler hose. Steam for sterilisation can be admited both through the valve ball bore and between ball and housing. The transfer device and its valve have a simple geometry and allow a steam sterilisation of all parts, including the connection for the filler hose. A simple and effective sterilisation is ensured.
