The portrait photography system includes a normal camera (10) providing a negative which is processed in a labaratory, while a back-up camera (12) provides a self-developing print, both cameras being actuated simultaneously. The two cameras (10, 12) may be positioned one below the other and mounted on a common tripod, also carrying flash lamps (20, 22) and a common mechanical or electromechanical camera release device (14). The self-developing pring allows the photographer to determine whether the negative is usable, so that a second exposure can be taken if it is not.
