The time control switch, has an electronic timer supplied with a small operating voltage from the mains, with its running time varied via an adjustable resistor. The timer controls the load via a load switch and the switch housing incorporates a main switch for actuating the timer in response to depression of one or more local push-button switches. Pref. a further load e.g. the main light is associated with the main switch or one of the local push-button switches, to allow the second load, e.g. a ventilation fan, be operated in conjunction with it.
