Preparing synthetic yarns for finishing with starch - by exposing them to vacuum discharge of short duration to improve adhesion of finishing agents

Synthetic yarns are prepd. for finishing with cheap agents such as starches, cellulose derivs. or sizes base on albumen, by feeding the yarns in the manner of a warp layer past a device in which they are exposed for a short period to a vacuum discharge. Finishing agents adhere satisfactorily to the yarns and they can be readily biologically decomposed in the spent liquor.
