The pipe consists of an inner pipe surrounded by a concentric outer pipe to form a ring gap filled with a foamed polymer. At least the outer pipe, and pref. also the inner pipe, consists of a corrugated metal tube with a longitudinal welded seam; and which is joined to other pipes to produce a pipeline immersed in seawater. The pipeline may be used as a catenary to join two objects. The outer pipe is made of a Cu alloy which is resistant to seawater; and the pref. alloy is Cu-Ni contg. 5-15% Ni, esp. 10% Ni; the Cu-Ni alloy may also contain is not 1% of Fe and Mn.
