Security against break-in is provided on a lattice grille covering a shaft in front of a cellar window, or similar. It consists of a flat metal bar supported on hooks with a shaft wall holder for one of a series of stops. The bar (1) has spaced edge grooves (7), with gaps corresponding to the width (13) of a slot (9) in the top section (8) of the holder (5), with lateral edges (9a, 9b) engaging the grooves. On the side (14) facing the shaft wall (6), the holder incorporates a slot (15), aligned vertically and providing for wall mounting. A securing plate (10) is mounted so as to swivel on the holder, overlapping the slit in the closed position. This is simple, and can be easily returned to a close-fitting position after repeated grating removal.
