Distilling appts. for e.g. concn. of fruit juice - with tumbling heat transfer tubes carrying thin film of descending liquid on inside walls

A distilling appts., for use in the concn. of orange juice, desalination or distn. of mixts. like alcohol and water, consists of a cylindrical container with =1 heat transfer tube which is given a tumbling motion by a crank mechanism. A cranked inlet to these tubes causes the liquid to run in a thin film along the inner wall. High-temp. steam passes along the space outside the heat transfer tubes. The thin liquid film has a low resistance so that the throughput is increased. The plant is simple and has a lower powder consumption.
