The buoyant body, partic. sailboard, comprises two or more rigidly connectable sections made of synthetic material. The sections (2, 3) are hollow, the connecting mechanism involving positively interlocking coupling lengths (7, 8) embodying grooves (11, 12) for a sealing ring (10). The male coupling half has flexible arms (15, 16) top and bottom, projecting angled-inwards to keep locking bolts (17, 18) at the free ends clear of the female half. When sections have been assembled these bolts are pushed into matching recesses (19, 20) by inflating a bag (13) between the arms to flex them, through a valve (14) in the board's upper surface.
