Cardioactive 19-nor-10-cyano-peruvoside derivs. - prepd. by dehydration of peruvoside 19-oxime with acetic anhydride-pyridine or di:cyclohexyl-carbodiimide-copper(ii)

New 19-nor-lo-cyano-peruvoside derivs. are cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, acyl, alkoxymethyl or carboalkoxy with 1-4 C-atoms in the alkyl groups). (I) give an increase in cardiac contractile force and are thus useful in heart therapy, esp. in the treatment of cardiac insufficiency. Compared with the parent cpds. in which the CN group is replaced by CHO, (I) gives rise to a smaller number of cardioactive and inative metabolites. Daily dosage is Ca 0.2-0.6 mg.
