Medical cooling device for localised inflammation - with Peltier element between heat conductive block and cooling pad applied to patient's skin

The device has a heat-conductive block (2) and a cooling pad (5) placed in contact with the patient's skin, with at least one Peltier element (7) positioned between them. This Peltier element (7) is coupled to a controlled DC source pref. with a time switch. Pref. the heat-conductive block (2) is of aluminium and it has cooling vanes across its front face. The opposite face of the block (2) has an opening into which an opposed Peltier element pair (7) are inserted with an insulating foil (9) between them and the block (2). The cooling pad (5) provided with a temp. monitor (8) e.g. a temp-dependent resistor or semiconductor, is inserted in the opening in the block (2) after the Peltier elements (7). The DC source is pref. operated from the lighting network and is incorporated in a common housing with the timer switch and a display connected to the temp. monitor (8) for the cooling pad.
