Moulded articles are produced by mixing (i) filler consisting of ground rubber, elastomer chips or fibres, rubber cork, cork or foam granulate with (ii) moisture-hardenable NCO-prepolymer as binder, moulding and hardening the binder with water, opt. using catalysts accelerating the NCO-water reaction and opt. standard auxiliaries and additives. Improvement consists of (a) either using fillers contg. the water quantity required for hardening the binder or (b) first mixing the fillers with the binder-hardening water quantity and then mixing the water-contg. fillers with binder. The prods. can be used as gun carriage wheel chocks, elastic floor covers, machinery underlays, fall-and impact-protectors, cutting devices. Prepolymer-hardening water quantity addn. to filler before mixing with binder yields homogeneous, foam-free hardening. The binder is used exclusively for bonding the granulate.
