The examination appts. is for live tissue, bones, organs, nerves and flowing blood for preventive purposes or to check the progress of therapeutic measures using the spin-echo technique. The sending and measuring coils of a core-spin-resonance apparatus enclose the area to be examined completely, and a detector and a computer to evaluate the measured values are included. The appts. has elements for measuring the nuclide density (with a magnetic core moment other than zero) in the selected examination volume, and for determining the spin-grid and spin-spin relaxation times, as well as the components of the diffusion tensor. Other elements measure the shortening of the spin-spin relaxation time, dependent on the flow state of blood in the examination volume. Both the working temperature of the measuring coil and that of the whole primary detection circuit are very low, preferably in the superconductivity range, and particularly in the temperature range of superfluid helium, e.g. below 1.85K.
