Compsns. for preventing damage to crops and trees by deer comprise finely ground mixts. of Cu powder and lactose, with a Cu content of 0.001-0.1% (pref. 0.01%), in the form of a feed additive. The compsns. are pref. used in an amt. corresp. to 0.005-0.05 mg of Cu per kg live wt.. The compsns. have a long-lasting effect, are readily accepted by the animals, have low toxicity, and do not form harmful residues.
