The sound attenuator (4) is arranged downstream of the waste heat boiler (3) in the outlet duct (1, 8) of a gas turbine. It comprises several sound-absorbing splitter elements (5) whose upward-pointing edges are formed as gutters (6) through which rain water entering the duct can drain away. Further gutters (7) may be arranged above the spaces between the elements. These gutters (7) may have an upwardly open angled cross-section, the angle being greater than 90 deg. The gutters (6, 7) may extend to the outside of the duct.
