If an accident befalls a skier or mountain climber an electro-magnetic transmitter is switched on. Its signals can be picked up by a receiver with an aerial without directional effect or direction finding devices. The receivers are positioned in ski-lift stations or in mountain rest huts. The actual location of living persons after an accident is determined rapidly to ensure the carrying out of life saving operations as efficiently and quickly as possible.
