The sweep oscillator has a reference signal oscillator and a main oscillator with adjustable frequency via a phase loop. A first mixer (AM1) acts as phase comparator in a phase locked loop, and a second mixer (AM2) is used for any frequency tubing. Both mixers treat a voltage controlled oscillator (HO) output with two different frequencies (F1, F2) derived from two different sources (O1, O2). A correction signal (S3) is added (S) to the control signal from the first mixer applied to the VCO control input. The correction signal is derived from the second mixer output, describing the frequency differences, using logic (AL) coupled to the channel and a waveband selecting unit (EV). The latter is preferably switchable to deal with two, or more, frequency timing ranges.
