The universally-jointed chain for use in haulage conveyors etc has pairs of successive links movably secured to a block and turned through 90 deg. in relation to each other. Some of the pairs of links accommodate rollers between them. The block (2) has a slot (8) in each end face while the trailing pair of links in each set has a locking lug (13), whose distance from the rear end of the member is less than the depth of the slot (8) at the other end of the latter.
