The cartridge heater has a resistive heating element embedded in ceramic material within a metal sheath. The heater has a tube embedded in the material which houses a removable thermocouple. The heater is for a low voltage power supply and the connections to it are via the tube and sheath. The tube and sheath may be open at the lower end to allow the thermocouple to protrude. The cartridge is mfd. by assembling the parts and then compressing the sheath to compact the ceramic. The cartridge may be used to heat and measure the temp. of the nozzle of a plastics injection mould.
