The data exposure window insert for an X-ray film cassette has a window flap (7) of rectangular shape hinged at the middle of one long edge to a short, pivotally mounted drive lever (9). The flap is displaced by an external magnet and has a drive element (6) at one edge to operate the swing. The pivotted mounting, with the flap turning through right angles, allows a compact mounting for a relative large area of data. The flap is held against the window by an integral spring (12). The insert can be fitted to most flat X-ray film cassettes.
