The multi-stage cold forging press can forge bolts either with hexagonal or recessed heads. The hexagonal headed bolts have to be de-burred and this is carried out by pushing the bolt (24) through the de-burring die (6) by means of an ejector rod (11). The ejector rod is pushed forwards by admitting compressed air through the port (17) into the cylinder (16) so that it acts on the piston (14) which pushes the ram (10) against the rod (11). When de-burring is not required air is admitted through the port (18) to retain the piston retracted.
