The resettable shift register contains a clock part, a control part and numerous data stages. Each data stage consists of an input part, a master/slave latch part and a temporary-storage output part. Each data stage can connect the output of the latch part to the input part of the next data stage and connect the latch part's output of the input of the temporary-storage output part. The output of the input part is connected to the input of the latch part. A special symbol signal is applied to the input part of the first data stage. The output of the latch part of the last data stage is connected to a temporary store with a differential output that delivers special symbol output.
