The surface elements on the one hand and the filling in between on the other, of a sandwich-type wall structure plate are of transparent or of light-permeable materials. The surface elements are of high density and great tenacity, and consist of transparent polystyrene, polypropylene, vinylchloride-vinylacetate copolymer, polymethylmethacrylate, etc. possibly glass-fibre-reinforced. The filling is of a lightweight material with good heat and sound insulating qualities and is a foamed urea-formaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde, polycarbonate, polyethylene, etc. The layers are bonded by a transparent adhesive. The plate solves the problem of ensuring acoustic insulation whilst at the same time providing adequate light in the room enclosed.
