The transmission housing for a fork lift truck has a central section (9) holding most of the transmission, and two outer sections (10, 29) holding the hub reduction units. The three sections are linked by two sets of vertical flanges which also grip vertical bulkheads linked to the vehicle frame. The flanges and bulkheads are secured by a series of bolts with wide holes in the bulkheads to allow for manufacturing tolerances. The transmission is securely linked to the vehicle frame without any danger of distortion.
