An on-b oard control and display computer system for aircraft provides monitoring of the minimum permissible altitude at points along a specified flight path. Co-ordinate measuring systems (100) provide instantaneous evaluation velocity and flight path that are correlated (16a) with data held in a memory relating to minimum altitude. An on board computer (22) processes Pitot tube (24, 26) inputs to provide altitude values that are compared (28) with the correlated values. If the minimum altitude condition at a point of the reference grid are in danger of being approached, a warning signal generator (30) is triggered to activate a display (34). At the same time an on-board computer (38) evaluates the required corrective action.
