The upholstered seat incorporates a training mechanism for rowing, in which the seat moves to and fro on guide tubes by means of rollers. The upholstered cushion is removed from the seat for rowing practice. The side arm rests pivot forward on a fixed bearing in order to provide a fixed mounting for a cable roller for guiding a cable or flexible rubber cable. When closed down the side arm rest is locked in position by a bolt in slots, and spring. The arm rest is operated by a knob. Several tension springs provide the force against which the rower has to row.
