The drive arrangement is for a waterborne vehicle (51) with an outboard propeller driven by an inboard engine (52) via a drive shaft (5)3 which passes through the square stern. The drive shaft extension (7) is enclosed within a housing (12) that extends rearwards from the stern. The housing (2) is made in one piece from box sections and carries as well as the drive shaft cooling water and exhaust pipes and controls for the rudder (31). The rudder is mounted behind the propeller (8). For control of the boat a reversing multi-speed gearbox can be fitted inboard between the stern (28) and the housing (2) or within the housing.
