Alcohol and glycol ether diesel fuels - contg. tri:ethyl-ammonium nitrate to increase cetane number

Diesel fuels based on ethanol, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether (EGME) and/or polyethylene glycol monoethyl ethers contg. 2-4 CH2CH2O units, contain triethylammonium nitrate (I) in amt. sufficient to improve their cetane number. Addn. of (I) in amts. of 1-25wt.% increases the cetane number to =27 for ethanol, =24 for EGME, =71 for triethylene glycol monoethyl ether (TGME), and =31 for their mixts.
