A switching circuit triggered by any transient disturbances prevents the generation of erroneous conditions in the operation of a data processing system. The address and data lines of the central processor are associated with one or more signal lines connected with an indicator stage. Typically, one line is used to detect positive disturbance pulses and the other negative pulses. These are combined in an OR gate connected to the indicator stage which may be a monostable device. Once the indicator is triggered, the operational cycle is inhibited for the duration of the disturbance.
