Rail car automatic safety door opening mechanism - has alignment IR transmitter at station to operate car carriage doors via IR receiver

Automatic opening and closing of doors of railway carriages is carried out by marrying sensing units along the station, the door operate control being in the carriages, and ensuring safe synchronised operation. The system is also suitable for cable car installations. The rail car has i.r. receiver equipment located above the doors. The station has i.r. transmitting equipment located above its doors. Both the send and receive equipment are coupled to motors for opening and closing the respective doors. The transmit equipment amplifies and codes the control signals transmitted by LEDs in duplicated equipments. In the receiver photodiodes respond to the incoming signals which are decoded in duplicated receive equipments. The system may be operated automatically by the station control centralised computer, or similar or manually by push-botton.
