To make the shoe the prefabricated upper part is braced over the last where it is pressed against the latter around its lower edge by a pressure face whose outline runs parallel to the lower edge area of the last (17). The pressure face (24) can be placed round the last so that the lower edge of the shoe upper (18) is pressed pref. linearly against the lower edge of the last (17). The upper can now be braced over the last in one single work step. In this fixed position the upper can be connected to the welt, e.g. by hot adhesion round the entire perimeter in one single step.
