The disconnecting tool consists of a U-shaped profile (1) with a ring (7) at one end for the user's finger and a head at the other end to engage one half (2, 3) of the connector. The head has inward pointing arms (14, 15) at the ends of two limbs (10) projecting from the ends of the sides of the profile. The tool is placed over the connector half such that the connector half passes through the opening delineated at the sides by the two limbs and at the front and back by the inward pointing arms and the end edge of the profile's spine. The inward pointing arms engage behind a ledge on the connector half so that the latter can be pulled clear of its mating half.
