The pick-up arm of a record player is equipped with a lifting pin that allows the height to be easily adjusted. The adjuster is designed to prevent damage due to overload. The pick up arm is secured to an annular ring (7) that is tilted to raise the pick up. Tipping of the arm is provided by a control surface operating on the underside (30) of a pin (13). The pin is threaded into an insert nut (15) and is retained by a coil spring (23) acting against an elastomer plug. The height is adjusted by turning the pin, using the screw-driver slot. Overload is prevented by the spring action.
