Research on relationships between the seasons and temperature as well as climatic changes is carried out with a model simulating the seasonal heating of the Earth. The Earth model (2) is made as a ball of the required thermal conductivity material with its surface coated by a layer changing its colour with temperature. Cooling ensures return to initial colour of the top layer. The rotation axis of the model is set at 23.5 deg. to the earth axis when irradiated from heat source (1). The setting results in beams parallel to the base surface of the assembly, and the ball has markings for the equator, tropics and polar circles. The colour coating ensures a short afterglow effect and the attached resistor of the ball is connected to a recorder. The low-friction bearings of the ball allow either manual or power driving, to take place. An UV radiation source may be used instead of the heat source.
