The container is intended for step-wise dispensing of paste-like material through an outlet orifice by pumping action. The material is held in a flexible bag inside the container, and the container wall has a resiliently compressible portion and an inlet valve permitting the pressure in the space between bag and container wall to be increased by pumping. The container may be rigid over part of its length and resiliently compressible over the remainder, the inlet valve being arranged in the rigid wall portion. The rim of the bag may be secured at the point, where the rigid portion joins the resilient portion.
