The locking structure for rotor end winding (e.g. a turbo-generator) comprises a retaining ring (1) to embrace the rotor end winding and a locking ring (3) to prevent the retaining ring from shifting axially with respect to the rotor body. Both rings are also secured by shrink fitting. Each ring has teeth to form a bayonet-joint, mating portions of the bayonet joint being provided on the outer surface of the retaining ring, and on the inner surface of the locing ring, while a ring key (4) is located on the rotor body (2) for a ring-bead on the end of the locking ring to abut against. The locking structure minimises the movements due to thermal expansion of the rotor windings.
