Fire-protective strips, which foam above 150 degrees C in a fire, are sealed in by a process comprising (A) placing the strips longitudinally on a continuously guided flexible metal foil, which is coated on both sides with a hot-sealable polymer and which is 2-3 x as wide as the strip. (B) Stationary guide units wrap one laterally projecting metal foil part over the strip. The other projecting part is placed on top. (C) The wrapped strip is heated to hot sealing temp. (D) The 2 superimposed plastic-coated metal foil parts are firmly welded to one another by pressing. The strips are tightly sealed, without the formation of a projecting weld seam.
