The solar powered water heater has a cold inlet and hot outlet plus heater tubes and a partition. The tubes are inside the boiler and the partition is a disc moved between cold and hot connections and with a sprung nonreturn valve opening when the disc moves from hot to cold inlet. The disc permits cold to hot flow in one end setting by a valve which opens when the disc is at the hot water outlet. The valve closes under cold water pressure and is opened by a contact at the hot water end. The disc moves between cold and hot in response to a water counter. The disc can be placed upstream of the cold inlet or behind the hot outlet to permit flow between these. The tubes run through both chambers formed by the partition disc. If several heat insulated discs are used forming a number of fixed chambers, then the valves are placed in the partitions diametrically offset from one another.
