Arc quenching switch - has contact bridge with arcing pad holding insert and projection featuring central notch

Improved switch operation is ensured by the contact bridge projections adjacent to contact pads and exhibiting a central slot. This centres the arc in the middle of the bridge promoting an improved arc quenching. The contact bridge carrier is made by drop forging or cast to rationalise the manufacture of the switch. The contact bridge (10) faces the fixed contacts (11, 12) close to arc quenching plates (13, 14) while its pad (16) acts as arcing contact which includes insert (19).
