Filtration process is for slurries with different particle sizes and can include washing of the cake. The different particles are classified in a cyclone before they are introduced onto the filter. The coarse particles are laid as a bed first before the finer material is added. Sedimentation accelerators can be added to the fine component before it is fed to the filter bed. Used for filtering coal slurries or separating gold from crude ore. Gives a cake of high permeability for liquid, air and stream thus allowing good dewatering and cake washing.
