Air is sepd. out of a closed circulation system (e.g. central heating) by means of a separator vessel which has an air outlet on the top. The inlet and outlet for the water lie on either side of a partition and both are connected to pipes which are directed towards the top of the vessel. Partition has a series of openings formed by bending the metal towards the inlet. This causes the incoming water to be deflected downwards while any air bubbles proceed upwards to the top. Used on central heating systems. Provides a very effective means of removing air bubbles and dirt particles. present in the recirculating water.
