Two=stage two cylinder air compressor - has asymmetric cylinder liners in symmetric cylinders in horizontally opposed formation

The compressor has a vertical crankshaft with two cranks. The casing gas two identical cylinders on opposite sides of the crankshaft. Asymmetric cylinder liners are inserted in the cylinders. The liners are at 180 deg. to each other so that their asymmetry displaces their centres by an amount equal to the distance between the two cranks. This allows the casing itself to be symmetrical. The driving motor is mounted above the casing with an intercooler alongside it. An oil cooler can be accommodated in the space at one side of one of the liners. Two sides of the casing are free for maintenance.
